Yoga-Sûtra

I am re-visiting the Yoga-Sûtra of Patañjali at Yogic by Nature module and found my 500 word assignment in 2013 prior to beginning 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training …

Blissology YTT 2013

I read The Yoga-Sûtra of Patañjali  a few times, first every written word, secondly a little of both, thirdly just the English Translation. I struggled to begin this essay, a sense of self doubt crept in and confusion with the written text and my understanding, what prevailed? I took my Yoga Mat and I-Phone to the beach, after my practice, feeling relaxed and focused I began to write…

The Yoga-Sûtra of Patañjali I believe translates the transitions, practices, distractions and ultimate goal of a Yogi and progression into a Yoga Teacher.

Yoga Sutras, “The Teachings of Yoga” passed on through Sanskrit, an old ancient Indic language of India, guides you to still your mind, focus and breathe, bringing all these together as one, enables you to hold postures with ease and without limitations. Your limitations to learn, grow and teach are only as strong as your mind will allow.

Inner strength, body strength, posture, peace and bliss will prevail through breath, focus and ability to remove obstacles from your mind and project love and happiness through your teachings.

Positive attitude, thoughts and love projected through practice and teachings of Yoga create an inner calm within yourself and students. Focus happens without thought, calm continuous positive instructions, become hypnotic and your breathing becomes relaxed and controlled.

To project self worth is to feel comfortable with yourself and the world we live in, what you project out, projects back. Life presents complications, don’t allow these to consume you, discard what is poison and keep what makes you smile. We are all different but happiness is a pursuit of all human beings, nourish your body with goodness, discard what you do not need, purge and feel free.

Understand your body and what you feed it, through knowledge, information, exercise, discipline and nutrients. Find time for meditation, reflection or quality time, allow the mind to relax and filter, clear the mind and allow perspective.

Share what is learned through these Yoga Sutras, through your own practice, teachings and throughout your life. A calm, peaceful world is something we all strive for, flexibility and freedom to move is taken for granted, share these teachings to enable all to have quality of life.

I want to introduce Yoga into the lives of others, there is certainly more to Yoga than postures, I want to watch physical and personal growth through my students, feel their collective energy in a class, help a student with special needs to strengthen muscles and encourage positivity and growth. My Island life is relaxed, I hope to instill that quality into my students, encourage breathing, posture and positive attitude into their lives. Encourage young children to stretch and move like our animal friends each day, so in later life flexibility, movement and breath is a given.

I am very fortunate to be living a life of choice, it transpired through a dream, became reality by focus and sustained through love. I feel Yoga compliments my life. My home floats on water, my meditation is underwater, nature is my window and the beach is my playground.

Namaste!
